After 50 Years
At the 50th Annual General Meeting of the Venturers Search and Rescue which was well attended by cadets and parents, Philip Pearce-Smith MBE, affectionately known as Tiffy, announced that he was handing over control of the Venturers to Mr Martin Bennett. Read on....

Air Ambulance event palls in 300+ bikers
Over 300 bikers arrived at Gang Warily Recreation and Community Centre on Sunday 10th July 2011 in support of the Hampshire Air Ambulance. The Venturers Search and Rescue cadets were on hand providing first aid cover.

Low Tide Rescue
The very low tide at Lepe left 3 Yachts aground at the entrance to the Beaulieu River and all were successfully towed off by the Venturers Powerful diesel jet boat Steadfast Venturer.

17 year old Andy Goddard-Crawley from the Venturers Search and Rescue was first on the scene at a multiple car crash in Texas USA.

Venturers Practice Ferry Crash Rescue
The venturers rescue team was put through its paces in Hythe to rehearse aiding severely ill ferry passengers. The simulation on Sunday imagined the ferry colliding with the terminal, its captain incapacitated and to passengers injured, one having suffered a heart attack.

Annual Report 2010
When three boys risked their lives to save the Labrador puppy, Pippo, from drowning when it got swept under a culvert and became trapped against the sluice gate leading out to sea. Click here to read the full report

Three venturers receive RSPCA award
In April, three of the venturers responded to a call to rescue a Labrador puppy in fast moving water. Click here to read the weekend update giving details of this rescue.

Weekend Update - Friday 9th, saturday 10th and Sunday 11th July
Today proved to be busier on the rescue front, the first incident of the day came when VR3 came across a small day boat with a fuel problem, VR3 towed the vessel clear of the channel and onto a courtesy mooring where a VR3 crewman was able to rectify the problem and the vessel continued on its way.

Venturers and Oasis Academy - Helping out local schools
Oasis Academy Lord' Hill a secondary school academy based in Lordshill, Southampton recently ran a model boat building competition for some of the local junior schools. Read More
Weekend Updates - Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July
SATURDAY: Today proved the start of what was to become a long weekend for the Venturers SAR lifeboat crews. We were tasked by the coastguard along with Solent Rescue to the assistance of a vessel aground on the Brambles bank after they had suffered a collision with another Vessel. On arrival we placed a crewman aboard the casualty vessel (a charter yacht) to assess for possible water ingress below decks, fortunately none was found and the damage proved only to be cosmetic.

We were pleased to have Ivan from Southampton coastguard crt with us today as an observer to see life from the lifeboat crews side of incidents, as there was no tasking for us to attend we took the opportunity to demonstrate how to recover a person from the water

The Cost to Kit Out a Cadet
The personal protective equipment used by the cadets during training and rescue duties is vital in order for them to go to sea, without it the Crewman cannot operate however it is expensive to kit out each crewman with the equipment needed.
Remembrance Day 2009
Ventuers had a busy Remembrance Day as we attended the Annual Fawley Parade, and a 2nd Service held at Blackfield Baptist Church under the Rev. Ivan Page who is Padre to the Venturers.

The league of Venturers crews made it no further than just down the road from thier control room on Sunday before coming to the aid of a stranded motorist when driving rain and tremendous winds battered the Lepe coast.
Week Ending 26th October 2009
This weekend saw Venturer Rescue One and Two complete another helicopter exercise with Coastguard Rescue 104, the techniques of a hi-line were completed by Venturer One before Venturer Two completed a formation with the helicopter.

Waitrose supermarket have a unique fund raising project for small local charities many of which do not receive the publicity they deserve. Customers fill in a form suggesting charities they would like to support.

Congratulations to Aaron Smith who has just completed his IYT Small Powerboat and RIB Master course, an internationally recognised qualification allowing Aaron to safely and competently helm a small powerboat or RIB.
