Saturday 29th May 2010

Todays rough weather was the perfect chance to catch up on some rough weather handling training.

VR1 was put through her paces after her recent refit and performed extremely well.
Later in the evening our Rapid Response Vehicle Victor Alpha Zero One was called to assist New Forest Medical Services with a hospital run for a lady who had a very nasty double fracture to her right wrist.

The incident had occurred at the Trucks and Troops show in Beaulieu for which New Forest Medical Services were providing the first aid cover.

Unfortunately the lady's family along with herself had all been having a glass of wine at a celebratory meal and although not under the influence of alcohol rightly could not drive, in addition to this the incident obviously did not warrant an emergency ambulance being called.

Venturers SAR having good working relationships with New Forest Medical Services were only to pleased to assist with transporting the lady to Southampton General Hospital A+E, much to the relief of the patient and her husband.

Sunday 30th May 2010

Today cadets aboard VR1 and VR4 practiced Man Overboard Recovery with a life like dummy. The day passed without any incidents requiring our intervention.

We did however keep observations on two incidents, one involving a tired windsurfer and the other involving four youths in an inflatable out in the channel.

Monday 31st May 2010

Today our cadets were put to the test of search pattern training, Expanding Boxes, creeping lines and parallel searches were all covered in a lengthy exercise.

The only call today was to a yacht in the Beaulieu River with engine failure and making no headway with next to no wind, he was grateful for the quick tow from VR1.
