We were pleased to have Ivan from Southampton coastguard crt with us today as an observer to see life from the lifeboat crews side of incidents, as there was no tasking for us to attend we took the opportunity to demonstrate how to recover a person from the water and the after care they receive on the boat before being handed over to the coastguards and ambulance ashore.
This is as always good practice for our cadets plus a chance to demonstrate some of the skills they learn with us.
Again we had a coastguard observer today this time Simon from Southampton coastguard CRT.
We spent the morning practicing windsurfer rescue and recovery involving differed states of casualty condition and type of incident the cadets again demonstrated their skills, later in the evening we were tasked by solent coastguard to a vessel agreed in ashlet creek, unfortunately the creek had dried out so much we were unable to get the lifeboat any were near them and as such we were stop down whilst Southampton coastguard mobile managed to hail the crew and ensure they were well kitted for the long wait for the tide!!
