Saturday 5th June 2010

Todays good weather provided a good chance to catch up on some routine maintenance. Patrols were completed by the vessels afloat as well as some coming alongside, holding off and securing to a buoy for some of the upcoming level one coxswains.

Sunday 6th June 2010

Weather today has worsened, a slight sea state proved a little too much for some local catamaran sailors, one capsized in the shipping lanes just south of the Brambles Bank. Venturer Rescue One was in the right place at the right time and after informing the coastguard managed to right the vessel. with the crew safely aboard we stood down and returned to patrol.

at the same time Venturer Rescue Three was assisting a capsized dinghy at Lepe beach, with one sailor disabled one of our crew had to enter the water to assist in recovering the gentleman and righting the vessel. All well and the vessel was able to continue back up the Solent with thanks to our crews.

We also received a station visit by a number of crew and cadets from Gosport And Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.

We were pleased to show them our facilities and hope to arrange a return visit to GAFIRS HQ in the near future.
