This weekend saw Venturer Rescue One and Two complete another helicopter exercise with Coastguard Rescue 104, the techniques of a hi-line were completed by Venturer One before Venturer Two completed a formation with the helicopter.
Later that day Venturer Rescue One was on routine patrol in the central Solent when they came across a dismasted Laser dinghy with four people on board, the vessel was drifting in the shipping lanes near Calshot and not making any headway with the small auxiliary engine. VR1 took the vessel in tow and safely berthed them alongside the harbour masters pontoon in the Hamble River.
On Sunday the Venturers played host to 15 of the Marine Cadets, the cadets and their instructors including organiser Leftenant commander West were taken for a high speed run aboard Venturer Rescue One and Two, they were shown maneuvers before being taken into the Western Solent in the wet and windy conditions, after lunch the Venturers demonstrated the land rescue techniques of PTO winches and ground anchors.
