Week Ending 18th October 2009

VR1 was on routine patrol on Saturday 17th October when the crew came across a yacht aground on the Brambles Bank. Venturer Rescue One with Hamble Independent Lifeboat layed a kedge anchor for the yacht and Hamble Lifeboat took three of 11 crew off.

On returning to station VR1 noticed a yacht with a spinnaker wrap, the vessel only had two crew onboard so VR1 transferred a crewman to assist with reducing and stowing the sail.

The last call of the day came as low water springs hit the Beaulieu River, a small sailing dinghy suffered from the absent winds and ran aground on the starboard side of the river, the crew attempted to row the craft when VR3 arrived on scene. VR3 escorted the vessel untill they were safely out of the shallows and well on thier way.

Sunday 18th October nearly passed without incident, however VR1 whilst again on patrol came across a yacht with a blown head gasket of Lepe Spit. the yacht was taken in tow to Hamble Point Marina.
