The Venturers Search and Rescue Organisation went to the aid of two craft in the Solent , one incident helping some seasick children and their mother to be taken back to Hamble.
Venturer Rescue I and II were patrolling the western Solent in the afternoon when a Bavaria 34ft yacht, was spotted with the top of its Spinnaker wrapped around the mast and the bottom flying free, causing problems for the one person aboard.
Asked by the Coastguard to assist; it took three senior crew from Venturer Rescue I and the yacht skipper to reduce and stow it away.
The yacht then made its own way to Lymington Yacht Haven.
Throughout, the Venturers had liaised with Lymington Auxiliary Coastguard who were observing from Tanners Lane , Sowley.
Soon after, Venturer Rescue 1 came across a 25ft motor cruiser near the Sowley Boom, with four adults and two children on board, suffering from engine failure.
Being informed, the coastguard asked the Venturers to help.
With the sea quite rough, the children who were feeling seasick and their mother were transferred to the Venturers boat.
Hamble Inshore Lifeboat then assisted by taking them on to Port Hamble, to where the cruiser, was also towed.
The following day, Venturers Rescue trained with the coastguard helicopter with stretcher exercises as part of their ongoing training programme.
