Day out for young rescuers

SEVEN cadets from the Lepe based Venturers Search and Rescue group were invited to Hampshire County Council's annual service at Winchester Cathedral on Sunday.

They were among hundreds of representatives from voluntary and community organisations asked to attend.

Guests included Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Mary Fagan and county council leader Ken Thornber.

After the service the guests enjoyed a high tea in Winchester's historic Great Hall.

Venturers Search and Rescue trains teenagers to help people in danger in the Solent.

It carries out about 40 rescues a year.
