Heat from a Bog and a Wooly hat saves Lady of 85

Christmas 2000

A call from the Police asked if we could use our four wheel drive Ambulance to look for a 85 year old woman missing overnight after a walk in the New Forest.

Quickly found up to her waist in a bog; but probably kept alive by the heat from the bog and her wooly hat.

She was still bright and cheerful, the Venturers 4x4 Ambulance was used to bring in the County Ambulance crew and transport to a hard road where a conventional Ambulance was waiting.

Dear Mr Smith,

I am writing in connection with the search for Primrose Goodchild on 23 rd December 2000 to thank you and your staff for all their help. It was very fortunate that the event reached such a happy conclusion and the approach and attitude of all those involved was an excellent example of liason between both national and voluntary services.

Yours faithfully,

Roy Bayntun
Inspecto

(Thanks for the experience of riding in your 4X4 ambulance!)
