Dear Tiff,
American Expedition 2003
I am just writing to say thank you for taking me to America in September/October of 2003. I feel that I have benefited greatly from going in many ways and now I have had time to think. There are some obvious things, such as;
Personal confidence in all aspects and situations,
A more mature attitude towards other people and their differences,
Independence, survival skills, and much, much more.
I learnt a lot about the real America and not just what the media portrays, it has certainly changed my mind about a lot of things! People at school comment on the change that they can see in my approach to things generally.
It confirmed that I enjoy working in a team and taking the lead when necessary, this has helped in what I do at Venturers, but also what I do at school.
The reaction at school has been interesting as they have found it hard to accept that I have my own opinions and can successfully do things in my own way. It took time to settle back into the routine and work within the constraints of the timetable but it has eventually calmed down.
Once again Thank You for giving me this great opportunity.
Yours sincerely,
